Dec 15, 2009

Limpopo Wildlife ResortsThe MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mr. Pitsi Moloto, will participate in the launch of the Nwanedi Nature Reserve project, which was  funded by the European Union.

The launch will be punctuated by several activities, including ribbon cutting, handing over of certificates to communities that were trained through the European Union project, opening of the Resort Bar with  a digital plasma Screen, introduction of the water tubes on Luphephe river, the launching of the game drive activities across the Greater Nwanedi Conservancy, the opening of a walking trail along the Nwanedi rivers, the opening of the hiking trail within and the surrounding Nwanedi area.

Limpopo Tourism and Parks (LTP) in partnership with the with the Rambuda community and the private partners  successfully applied  for the EU donor funds to upgrade tourism infrastructure in Nwanedi Nature Reserve to facelift the state of the Greater Nwanedi Conservancy.

The main objective of the project was to increase the ecological terrains of Nwanedi Nature Resort from the current 9000ha to a 25000ha big five  game reserve in order to create a bigger conservancy that would allow for free roaming of animals. The project launch will bring together a range of partners: the European Union, Rambuda Community, Forever Resorts and  Kuduland Safaris.

To this end, Nwanedi Nature Resort remains one of the most successful community owned rural based tourism product, as it is one of the major tourism draw-cards midway between Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Park and The Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park.

The LTP sees this as a success story in the tourism sector in line with the objectives of the government to create jobs and fight poverty for the local communities, but most importantly, to take tourism to the doorstep of the communities”, said the CEO OF Limpopo Tourism and Parks, Mr. Benny Boshielo. He further urges people tour the province for them to know it better.

Some of the new offerings are:

  • The opening of the Resort Bar with a digital plasma Screen.
  • The Introduction of the water tubes on Luphephe river.
  • The launching of the game drive activities across the Greater Nwanedi Conservancy
  • The opening of a walking trail along the Nwanedi rivers
  • The opening of the hiking trail within and the surrounding Nwanedi area
