Jan 11, 2014

The Polokwane Municipality in Limpopo has launched football Friday. The campaign is aimed at getting people to support the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

The Peter Mokaba Stadium is among the four venues that will host the third edition of the tournament. Polokwane municipal spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene says: “We are ready, the pitch has been inspected. We have been given a go-ahead, we are busy with maintenance to support operation of the local organising committee.

"We recruited 300 volunteers that have been trained and some of them have already (been) deployed in various areas in terms of getting people of Limpopo in Polokwane to the stadium. We have been going around in the province with the CHAN mascot and CHAN dancers trying to build the heart that people should come and watch the game.”

Some soccer enthusiasts have been given tickets to watch the matches that will be hosted at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on  Tuesday next week.
